When people are crossed with the idea of Black Knight as a character, there are certain issues and questions that crop up rather regularly. Below is a list of responses.
1. Do we need another Sword User? Why not a Lance or Axe?
This is probably the most common question/complaint that crops up.
There's some kind of misconception that swords are too plentiful in Smash Bros.. But really, what would the alternative be? Is there benefit from having every fighter use their fists? Swords and Blades are the main weapon used by civilizations throughout history, after all.
While Lances and Axes are different, the actual change is merely ascetic. The hitbox and actual function of such weapons are the exact same as swords with only minor changes.
2. Having another Heavy Sword user would take Ike's uniqueness away from him.
Only in theory.
Case in point, take Meta Knight and Pit, both are light, fast harasser type enemies. They both have incredibly different playstyles, yet in theory they should be the same as that they have wings, light weight, and speedy blades. That's far more similar than Ike and Black Knight would be.
